I would vote for Mike or Kenny. I thought they both did a very nice job of understanding the musical characteristics of those particular musical genres.

My favorite Industrial composition was Chris', followed very closely by Mike. I am thoroughly impressed with all four, and I found it difficult to judge. Couple of quick comments:

Mike: everything got a bit muddy when the sound effects patch came in. I think your's was melodically the most interesting.

Karol: I like yours a lot, but to me (don't be mad) sounded a bit more like Industrial Pop than rock - just my opinion. Perhaps the patches you used made me think that. Your drum beat was the best hands down.

Zach: I like your ideas, but it never really "kicked in" for me. Sounded a bit sparse. I think if you add to the composition you've really got something going here.

Chris: Great job, but I really don't like the "hand-clapping" part of the drum beat. Only criticism. Other than that it rocks!

Please take these comments as constructive criticisms. You are all pretty amazing. Keep up the incredible work!

I can't wait to hear the Latin stuff.

Great comments! Thanks. I'll be following up on this project as it is evolving. I am going to see if I can get some of the kids music on this site. Stay tuned as I'd love to hear more of your thoughts.

One advantage with this 'speed composing' would be that the product produced would probably be emotionally vibrant, with less polish. Working quickly brings out more instinct.

As a composer, my first draft is usually written rather quickly. If I over-think this first stage, my work tends to become mannered and rather contrived (i.e. not acceptable).

Thanks for the interesting posting.
